Support when you need it
Losing someone can be overwhelming, and finding the right support is important. At City and East London Bereavement Service (CELBS), we offer a range of services to help you navigate grief in a way that feels right for you. Whether you need one-to-one counselling, early bereavement support, or a welcoming space to connect with others, we’re here to help.
1:1 Counselling
Our one-to-one counselling offers a safe, confidential space to talk about your loss and how it affects your life. Your counsellor will support you in understanding your thoughts and emotions at your own pace.
Sessions last 50 minutes and take place at the same time each week. We offer face-to-face counselling, as well as sessions by phone or Zoom.

Early Bereavement Support
In the early weeks and months of grief, extra support can be helpful. Our Early Bereavement Support service offers up to four flexible sessions (not necessarily weekly). These sessions focus on emotional support, coping strategies, and practical concerns like returning to work or adjusting to life changes.

Grief Café
Join us for a cuppa and a chat at our Grief Café, held every second Monday of the month. It’s a friendly space where you can share your experiences or simply listen—there’s no pressure to talk.

What Happens After You Refer?
Once we receive your referral, we’ll invite you to a telephone assessment. This is your chance to talk about your loss, how you’re coping, and what you’re looking for in counselling. We’ll also explain how our services work and answer any questions.
After your assessment, you can decide if counselling feels right for you. If you choose to continue, we’ll add you to our waiting list. If we feel another service may be better suited to your needs, we’ll help you find the right support.
